Once we are willing to embrace and own our fears/shadows, we no longer have to project our fears into the world. The moment you acknowledge fear, calling it what it is .. 

e.g. "Hey fear of being judged, i see you! Thank you for protecting me, but I am grown up now, I know who I am, I know what I am doing and I love myself no matter what others think.  And I decided that my opinion of me is more important then your opinion of me. 


I don't need you anymore. Goodbye!" .. the feeling of fear immediately diminishes because you now know what is the source of the fear... It's like a mother holding a crying baby into her arms with complete attention and tenderness..
