Sandboarding is the sport of riding a snowboard on sand dunes, barchans or embankments in quarries instead of snowy mountains. 

As in snowboarding, the feet are strapped to the board, with special straps, while some people prefer to use boards without any. Unlike ski bindings, almost all snowboard bindings are designed to not detach when you fall.
