If you’re going to travel to a foreign country, you’re only selling yourself short by not learning the native language. 

The only way I could have found this glorious waterfall, was by having a conversation in Spanish with a local Costa Rican man, who was tending to his horses when I met him on a mountain trail I’ve never explored before. 

Eventually I asked him if he knew about any waterfalls in the area, as there are many, and to my surprise he informed me of a special secret spot, and gave me permission to cross a barbed wire fence to get there. 😍

You already know what I did next. 🤩

My Spanish is still rudimentary but I’m leaning more everyday. Language apps like Duolingo are great, but the real practice comes from having conversations with people. Okay 

I love opportunities where I can bring you a little slice of my spontaneous life.
