Eevee ponders...seafood People are always quite shocked when I say I don’t eat seafood. They tend to think my fascination of Japan goes hand in hand with a love of sushi. It does not. I *want* to like sushi. It is presented so beautifully; carefully picked, freshly sliced fish gently laid over a pillow of rice…perfectly mouth sized. But, in reality, all seafood kinda gives me the creeps. I’m not too sure why. I know I don’t like the smell. And I guess I fear that will translate into the taste. It’s not the texture – I assume it’s much other raw meat and I love beef tataki and steak tartare. I like my steak wafted over a flame at most. So I can only assume it’s the idea of it floating around in water before being turned into food. Something about that weirds me out a tad. Which, again, is odd because I love floating around in water. Maybe it’s a little too close to home. Perhaps I am part fish. Anyway…the reason I say all this is because this article intrigued me, and I wonder if this is my gateway! “S.F. is getting the world's first 'cultured sushi' tasting room, where fish is grown in a lab” https://www.sfchronicle.com/food/article/S-F-is-getting-the-world-s-first-cultured-16280296.php Sidenote: When I go to Japan, I will most certainly be trying sushi. I will find the most “la de da!” restaurant and try THE BEST sushi ever so I can know once and for all if it’s for me or not…and decrease the possibility of having a shitty first experience What are your thoughts of seafood? What would you recommend I try if I ever get a calling to dive into the seafoodworld?!
