✨How does meditation work?🧘🏻‍♀️

Meditation focuses on the body, thoughts and emotions.

1. Body. Right now, pay attention to how you sit: how your feet rest on the floor, your hips touch the seat of the chair, your back rests on the backrest. Pay attention to how you breathe: deeply, shallowly, do you even feel how you breathe? When we direct our attention to body sensations, we develop one of our metacognitive skills💪

2. Thoughts. When you practice meditation, you begin to monitor and become aware of what is happening to you inside and outside - in your body, in your thoughts, in your emotions. And over time, learn to control it💭

3. Emotions. You may be experiencing some kind of emotion, but you are able to seem to disconnect from the content of the experience. You watch your emotions like cars that pass by on the road: one car is big, another is small, one you like, the other you don’t😁

Meditation as a path❕

Meditation is a path through three skills. First, you begin to become more and more aware of what is happening (self-awareness). Then you learn to separate your thoughts and emotions from yourself (self-transcendence). And lastly, you learn to regulate what happens to you (self-regulation). For example, I feel that I am too excited today - I can calm down, I feel that I am too sad - I can cheer up, and so on😉
