The first of my giant sunflower heads came down today.
This is the biggest from my own backyard hybrid, unique to my garden alone.
After it dries, I'll be putting them in my etsy shop that I will actually definitely get around to starting next week!

Theae genetics actually factually only exist here in these seeds. Every year I buy and grow new giant sunflowers, and the biggest from my hybrid bunch gets selected to grow again next year.
Last year I only grew red sunflowers and mammoth grey stripes. The seeds this monster plant grew from were grey and stripey. Yet, ALL the seeds this year are a deep rich purple color that will harden to black.
I grew a batch of red sunflower seeds from last year, and several giant species I bought on etsy.
The seeds I planted this year grew about 4ft taller than its parents. I hope by selecting the largest and healthiest flowers, next year I can grow even taller ones!
