Do you have a friend, a family member, or a coworker that you share all your secrets, challenges, and life stories with? Can you call them up or visit them right now if you need a shoulder to cry on and or laugh with? I asked a handful of people of all ages this question, and most people don’t have that friend they can count on and get really deep and raw with. Would you like a friend who you can talk to and be your true authentic self? Wouldn’t it be nice to talk to someone who is not judging you and wanting to know the real you? This kind of person is a special person in your life, who understands you, who wants the best for you, and you deserve to have somebody like this in your life. Do you have someone you care about and someone who cares about you? We all need to talk, cry, laugh, listen, and be heard sometimes. Who do you talk to you? Where do you go when you need help with some tough questions answered? Do you go to church, talk to your dog, or talk to yourself or the bartender? Does it get to the point where you drink more, do drugs, eat bad, etc. If we don’t have that outlet to let our voices be heard, we may choose unhealthy habits to compensate for our true selves. I think we all have been there, but there are many healthy, safe sexy ways to be noticed, to be heard, to speak our stories and truths, and have someone who really listens. Luckily I have an amazing support group who has helped me grow to be the best I can be. I am still learning, loving, and breathing along the way. Every day is a new day and a new life experience. Who do I talk to? Twice a month, I talk to my therapist Jennifer. We have been meeting up and talking for the past two decades. Therapy has saved my life, and I recommend finding the right health system that works for you that will make your life shine so much brighter. I also found an amazing psychiatrist in NYC who has helped me find the right medication for my anxiety and ADD. Share your stories! xoxo DR #drresa @drresa
