Every day I break my fast with smoothie & here’s why 👇
Everyone has sh*t to do, especially when you’re trying to get your day going. If we’re not mindful we can easily end up dismissing all hunger cues and go 0-hangry, brain foggy, tummy discomfy... I say “break my fast” instead of “breakfast,” because I LOVE breakfast food, however, this bad baby is made for function, not fun. I know that I can set myself up for sustained energy and focus by nourishing my body first thing with a healthy dose of REAL food. I cycle off and on plant based protein supplements, but mostly use plain Greek yogurt + other whole food protein sources I’ll share. Personally, I’m not typically hungry for at least the first 2hrs of waking, so drinking breakfast after a 12-14hr fasting period feels easier.
Try this:
Base: organic pure beet juice or coconut milk (with no additives)
Protein: plain yogurt, or collagen peptides, or a high quality plant based protein such as Truvani
Plant based protein: 1Tblsp of chia seeds, flaxseed meal, or hempt hearts.
Fiber (optional): I add natural fiber in the form of psyllium husk to my smoothie to help stay regulated
Greens: collard (wash it up then chop it up!)
Fruit: banana helps knock the edge off any earthiness from the juice
