I'm (not-so) secretly hoping someone will mention the anime I've been watching as something they've been enjoying too, so I wont feel so bad about liking it. So far no luck!  

I'll give a hint - it wasn't originally intended to be an anime, but it's original media was so popular it became one.  I guess technically it's a Japanese visual novel franchise.
