Cone of shame… 😔🐶
Ellie’s allergies are a hot mess. She’s always had bad allergies, just like me, lol. The vet put her on Apoquel years ago, gradually increasing the dose to where she’s now taking a 60lb dog’s dose, split throughout the day. I can only think that maybe the storm stirred up allergens since nothing else in her environment or diet has changed. She’s been scratching her face raw, chewing her paws open, and dragging her flower till everything was swollen and bloody. Every few minutes, I had to stop her from going at it again.
I feel horrible about the cone, but the vet can’t give her the allergy shot we’re switching to until Monday. She was already running hot this morning—a reminder that all the scratching and chewing can quickly lead to infection. She’s cooled down since, but this definitely needs to be kept an eye on.
Man… I hate how miserable she is. Ellie deserves a beer, lol. Poor girl… 😔 Grateful for a good head on my shoulders and my prior nursing experience.
