also, quick thoughts on the game awards - I thought there were a lot of cool games showcased this year :0 I’ve seen a lot of people discuss how TGA kinda feels like it’s trying to be E3 nowadays. I more or less agree, I do wish they would make it a little bit more about the actual awards and game dev recognition. I felt like everyone was rushed off the stage during their speeches way way too fast. I think game devs deserve way more praise for their hard work, so that did read as a little disrespectful. Also there was a pretty big focus on Hollywood celebrities, which I don’t really love. I don’t think Hollywood actors should be excluded from the gaming world entirely, but it feels like a lot of games are trying to have a lot of big celebrities all the sudden for the purpose of hype and profit to promote to a more main stream, non gamer audience, and I don’t really love that. I don’t think Hollywood actors should take all the jobs from voice actors either. Other than that criticism, I loved the musical performances and the game presentations were pretty good. There’s a lot of games that were shown that looked very interesting to me and I felt some hype about some of the announcements. Overall I had a fun time watching, but I do think in the future they should make it less about Hollywood and ads, and more about the devs and the love of gaming.
