**Q:** What does it look like to learn under a shaman?
**A:** I’m sure it depends on your teacher. (Disclosure, I don’t trust most people who call themselves shamans and I find few to be “clean.”) - I have had dozens of sessions over the years with my shaman, all virtual at first. I have been (and am currently) in some training with her and a small cohort, also (mostly) virtually. She has a training series she offers to certain individuals with videos, text, and guided meditations. She will also work 1:1 and in person if appropriate. I have built an uncompromising connection of mutual trust and support over time with her, so our relationship looks different than most. She’s also an extremely vivacious woman; I even “chaperoned” her and a date once.

Most importantly, she teaches self-empowerment, and those teachings in particular were the catalyst for my healing and expansion. Many shamans go through a period of “shaman sickness” (as did I). It’s something you are called to out of complete and utter necessity, IMO. You must know and understand darkness to do this work. It is not for the faint of heart.
